Our mission is to see neighborhoods filled with locally owned businesses meeting the needs of the community.
In addition to creating a stronger sense of community and a healthier environment, shopping small is simply good economics! The fact is that when you spend your money with a locally owned and operated business, that money tends to stay within the community at a much higher rate than money spent with national chains. The American Independent Business Alliance
The fact that Small shops rewards you for supporting Independent business makes you feel like you're part of a community not a headquarters.

Love the SSU idea! One card 'that's all'. I feel connected to the local business members and will frequent them exclusively. If it's independent and local, I'm in.

I liked Small Shops United because it caused me to find businesses I may have otherwise overlooked. Please let me know if you branch out to Ann Arbor, MI.

That's me on the right alongside Jan Kelly, owner of Meritage. I grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and have since lived in some amazing neighborhoods around the country. I was inspired to create Small Shops United with the simple idea that by better connecting consumers to neighborhood businesses, stronger communities will result. It's been my privilege to work with so many great small business owners to date, and together we're going to make every neighborhood a little better place.
